Wonder Rookie

In an otherwise lackluster MLB season, Seattle has found an uncut gem. Kyle Lewis is fun to watch. The shortened season has been unkind to Seattle, as they were miserable out of the gate. But suddenly and without warning, they’re playing some pretty good ball and even the pitching has found new life.

We as Mariner fans will cling to any signs of life. We are relentless armchair managers, always certain we would have called a better play. But it doesn’t matter if you love the sport.

It is in fact a perfect metaphor for the state of affairs rocking the nation. Even a slow starter can find new life and renewed hope. And so we Americans will persevere as we always have done and take pride in knowing there is no better place on earth, warts and all.

There’s no crying in baseball.
